Booktrust Early Years Awards

Initially sponsored by Sainsbury's, The Sainsbury's Baby Book Award was for the best book for babies under one-year-old.

The award was replaced by the Early Years Awards in 2004, with three separate categories - The Best Book for Babies (under one-year-old), The Best Picture Book (for children up to five-years-old) and The Best Emerging Illustrator (for children up to five-years-old).

The winners of each category receive £2,000. In addition, the best emerging illustrator receives a specially commissioned award by a leading illustrator.
