Established in 2010, this award is presented by Peters Bookselling Services. The shortlist is drawn up from nominations of Peters' staff librarians, and opened to public vote by the readers of the company's eGazette online weekly news magazine.
The award is open to works of children's literature published in the nominated year. The shortlist is published during December, with voting and winner announcement taking place in the January of the following year.
