The Blue Peter Book Awards were launched in 2000, and are run by BBC Children's Programme 'Blue Peter' in association with Booktrust.

Categories within the award have altered slightly since the award's inauguration, but for 2011 there will be three categories: The Best Book With Facts, Favourite Story and The Most Fun Story With Pictures.

A panel of adult judges will shortlist the final nine books. These will then be judged by a selection of young Blue Peter viewers, who will decide the winners in each category and the overall winner - The Blue Peter Book of the Year.
