John Boyne visits Peters

On Monday 4th October, Peters played host to John Boyne, author of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, who is currently on a UK tour to promote his latest children's title, Noah Barleywater Runs Away.

John was thrilled to be greeted by our showroom display for 'Noah Barleywater', which was created using posters and postcards provided by Random House Children's Books.

Later, John gave a very interesting and informative talk about different aspects of his work, including the creative process ('Noah Barleywater' was more difficult to write than 'Striped Pyjamas'), and how his friend Oliver Jeffers agreed to provide illustrations for 'Noah Barleywater'.

John also talked of his involvement from start-to-finish in the 'Striped Pyjamas' film adaptation, adding: "No-one has told me they prefer the film, but some children have told me they preferred the book!". There are currently no plans to make a film version of 'Noah Barleywater', and though he would not rule it out, he thinks "It's a more complicated story to adapt".

John also told us he is working on an adult book at present, but promises to write at least one more children's book.

John has already updated his blog page with details of his visit, where you can see his own picture of our display:
