Branford Boase 2007 Shortlist Announced 2nd May 2008
The six shortlisted books for the 2007 Branford Boase Award are announced today. The winner of last year’s award was Siobhan Dowd, for her wonderful novel A Swift Pure Cry, which joined previous BBA winners Marcus Sedgwick and Kevin Brooks on a starry Carnegie Medal shortlist over which Meg Rosoff, also a BBA winner, ultimately triumphed.

The CILIP Carnegie Greenaway Awards -The Shorlists 2008 18th April 2008
The Shortlists for the 2008 CILIP Carnegie & Kate Greenaway Medals have been announced. This year's shortlists feature an impressive collection of authors and illustrators, ready to battle it out for this coveted prize. The winners will be announced 26th June 2008. Research shows children are missing out on childhood 4th March 2008
Jacqueline Wilson has expressed concern that British children are growing up too quickly. This comes as new research, published this week, pinpoints 11 as the age at which childhood is officially over. The study reveals that British parents are cutting short their sons’ and daughters’ childhood by buckling to the culture of “pester pressure” and lavishing their children with an array of grown-up privileges.

After a four year reign as the ‘Queen of library lending’, Jacqueline Wilson has been narrowly beaten into second place by US thriller writer James Patterson in the Most Borrowed Authors list. According to the latest annual figures on library lending released by Public Lending Right (PLR)
