The Children's Reading Partnership Road Show
The Children's Reading Partnership road show gathered together fifty librarians from across the UK with representatives from 10 publishers, to provide an opportunity for publishers to present the highlights of their autumn and winter publishing schedules - which included some books NOT on supernatural themes! They also entertained the audience with Steve Cole's You Tube video for his Slime Squad series - check out 'Steve Cole reads The Slime O'Clock News' - and introduced children's fiction with augmented reality pages.
Authors present who were brave enough to put themselves through 6 minute 'speed-date' sessions with the librarians included self-confessed horror fan David Gatward, illustrator Sarah McIntyre, thriller stalwart Graham Marks, children's workshop practitioner and picture book author Caryl Hart, and fiction newcomers Sita Brahmachari and the unique Katherine Rundell.
The day was declared a "Great success" by Tricia Kings, from the Reading Agency, who added 'It was great working with Peters on this, we've very much enjoyed it, and I do hope we can work together again - including maybe another roadshow... (Peters) is a good and accessible venue - as we noted there were people from Devon and Dorset as well as the Midlands'.
The event coincided with the launch of our refurbished showroom, boasting a dedicated Under Fives area and streamlined Teenage and Young adult provision. With over £2million worth of stock Peters showroom now holds the largest collection of multiple copy children's stock in the UK.
We have special limited edition bookbags full of goodies celebrating our 75th anniversary, and Walker books have also supplied a quantity of their own goody bags for their thirty year anniversary to give out to our first 100 customers visiting the new look showroom.
